What we do

MACCWT is an acronym for Milton Area Christian Churches Working Together, which is a registered Canadian charity. Our members are churches in Milton, and our primary purpose is to promote awareness of Christian values and practices within the larger community of Milton. Only churches can be members of MACCWT, and for 2012–2013 there are 19 local churches as members (see complete list below).

Our initiatives include:

ANNUAL "ON THE WAY TO BETHLEHEM" NATIVITY PAGEANT is a three-evening live depiction of the Christmas story, held over the first weekend of Advent, Friday through Sunday from 6:30–8:30 pm each evening, at Country Heritage Park. The pageant attracts approximately 5,000 visitors each year and has been a feature of the Christmas season in Milton since 2002. For more information please visit www.onthewaytobethlehem.ca

CHRISTMAS DINNER FOR FOOD BANK PATRONS is another community outreach hosted by Milton Christian Churches, with food donated and volunteers from many of our member churches.

Annual publication and distribution of CHURCH DIRECTORY information brochures through public information opportunities in Milton and the surrounding areas, including: information kiosks, Milton Public Libraries, community centres, arenas and pools, Welcome Wagon, etc.

Maintenance of this WEBSITE which provides information about activities and community events occurring in the churches in the Milton Area.

EMAIL EVENT PROMOTION for member churches, which provides regular email notification to churches in the community regarding the public events hosted by MACCWT church members.

Founding agency of MILTON TRANSITIONAL HOUSING giving those in Milton who are in housing crisis the space and the support they need to rebuild and reshape their lives with dignity. Milton Transitional Housing (MTH) enables individuals and/or families to acquire additional education and skills for enhanced life opportunities; to obtain sustainable housing; and to gain financial confidence and stability. The first housing unit was opened in October 2011 and at the present time, there are three supported housing units in Milton. The program is now run by Milton Transitional Housing Corp, but MACCWT remains a principle supporter. Go to www.miltontransitionalhousing.ca for more information.
