The parish of St John’s began in 1842 with a donation of land and in 1844 a white frame church was erected. This was replaced by a stone church building in 1870 that had to be rebuilt following the “great wind storm” of 1913. The present church was completed in 1915 and the outstanding stained glass windows were installed in 1940.
The attached church cemetery dates back to the beginning of the parish. The stone markers reflect the long history of families and individuals who participated in the life of the Church
To commemorate the 150th anniversary in 1992, the church was granted its own Coat of Arms by the Chief Herald of Canada through Governor General Roméo LeBlanc
St John’s is a traditional Anglican Church that extends a warm country welcome to all. We look forward to meeting you at the open house and invite you to worship with us on Sunday mornings.
